Joe Beef Market

The PSC Community Theatre & la Société d'histoire de Pointe-Saint-Charles have announced that their third annual Joe Beef Market has now been scheduled for Saturday, September 11th 2010.

The market takes place in the Joe Beef Park on the corner of Centre & Richmond Streets in Point St. Charles.

This outdoor event is great family fun & includes actors from the PSC Community Theatre dressed in period costumes; a number of artisan booths, as well as other displays & exhibitions.

As in the past, each year we honour a particular historical character from Montreal past and this year it will be Thomas Coltrin Keefer. He had an engineering focus on water supply and he became Chief Engineer of the Montreal Water Board. As well, his design for the foundations of the Victoria Bridge (“Keefer’s Shoes”) were used in the construction of the bridge. His work with the Montreal waterworks resulted in a major improvement in providing accessable water for firefighting within the city. Recently the City of Montreal renamed a small section of Atwater Street, which is south of the Lachine Canal and in Point St. Charles to rue Thomas Keefer in his honour.

If you (or anyone you know) have an interest in renting a booth space at our Joe Beef Market to display, and sell, your artisan goods or service please send an e-mail with your contact information to info@psccommunity.com.
